That's So Raven my rear end! This book is the WORST!
By B Rock
Comment is NOT in reference to the seller or shipper. This book title popped up on my son's 9th grade summer reading list. I purchased all the books with the design to give him all options during the summer. I found reviews for all the books except this one. Have mercy, I know why! My son came out shaking his head, handing me the book, saying "There is no way my school really wants me to read this crap." Assuming he was trying to make an excuse to get out of reading the book, I picked it up and started to read. All I can say is this is the WORST book I have ever read. If it is an attempt to get black girls/students to read, I am offended. The author perpetuates ugly stereotypes of violence, hyper-active sexual attitudes, sexual pressure, racism and entitlement attitudes, and the assumption that all white girls are 'hoes' and all white boys are rich and looking to add some color to their parties at their parent's beachfront mansions. Disgusting. How dare an author encourage such filth. Don't allow your children to read this book. It is written by a narrow-minded woman using her book series to 'settle some score'.

Makes Me Wanna Holler
By Nardsbaby
Jayd Jackson is a `rebel with a mouth,' street smart, book smart and wise about the games guys play. Jayd is still a typical girl and she fell for one of the cutest, more popular guys at South Bay High. KJ was the nicest, most considerate boyfriends a girl could want. That is until it came time for the cookie distribution. Translation, Jayd wasn't ready for sex so Mr. Considerate moved on to the next chick.

It's the first week of school and drama seems to be lurking all around Jayd as she tries to deal with her classes, her family and her first broken heart. It would be simpler if she knew precisely who was and wasn't her friend. Misty has been posing as a friend for far too long and now that Trecee is in Jayd's face about KJ, her ex, she knows that some type of way Misty is caught in the middle, but how, she isn't certain.

Drama High: The Fight was initially purchased for my younger cousin. I usually pre-read anything I'm considering for her because of the content some authors deem age appropriate. Though I believe that this is some mess that high schoolers unfortunately are locked into, I have to say that the whole potions and cleansings were too much for me. Even with all of that, I think Drama High: The Fight truly reps what high school is like.

Not My Thing
By Noelle
I wasn't very excited when I received The Fight as a gift but i gave it the benefit of the doubt. It turned out to be a waste of my time. Not only was it poorly written but it was one word: ghetto. Why would anyone want to read about someone getting shot in detail in the first 50 pages of a book? There's enough violence in the world (and enough negative sterotypes about African American people) that when I read a book it's to escape the bad things around me, not to read about them.
Though I didnt like the book as a whole, there were a few things I thought were nice about the book such as the Jayd Jackson's (the main character) new love interest. I also thought her grandmother was super cool and I wouldn't mind meeting her in real life. All in all I rate this book a 3.5.
